Arianna Huffington

Arianna Stassinopoulos Huffington has been an Greek American columnist, author and businesswoman for more than 20 years. She was a co-founder of The Huffington Post the founder and chief executive officer of Thrive Global and the author of fifteen books. Arianna Huffington is an writer, philanthropist and television host, and also the proprietor of The Huffington Post. She emigrated out of Greece to England aged 16 where she obtained a MA in Economics from Cambridge University in Economics. The first ever foreign-born student to be elected president in the prestigious debate club The Cambridge Union, at 21, she was able to take over the position. She became a syndicated conservative writer following graduation and, with The Huffington Post launched a few years following, she launched an online voice platform which offered critiques of political scenarios. In part, her fame helped in attracting several famous contributors. Arianna became famous after she decided to stand as an independent Candidate for the California Recall Election in order to succeed the former governor Davis. She was also involved in an initiative in Detroit that promoted cars that are fuel efficient. She was named one of the Most influential women in media according to Forbes in 2009, and was awarded 12th position on this list. In the same year Guardian listed her among the Top 100 Media List. AOL acquired The Huffington Post from AOL in 2011. In 2012, she became the President of the AOL media group. It was comprised of several AOL owned properties like Engadget AOL Style List and Patch Media. The parents of her were Elli as well as Konstantinos Stasinopoulos who was an expert in management and a journalist. Her life was shaped through her relationship with her mother and her bond with her dad, despite her being very close to her father. At a young age she showed her leadership skills that she is still known for. In her 16th year, she returned to the UK to pursue her studies and was enrolled in Girton College Cambridge. As a student, she joined the Cambridge Union, a college debating club. As the third woman president and first foreigner, she was the president of Cambridge Union. In 1972 she graduated with a master's degree in Economics. Following her graduation, she worked as a journalist and TV host. Alongside Bernard Levin she appeared on an episode of Face the music.
