Anna Paquin, a Canadian-New Zealander actor. Paquin was born in Winnipeg and was raised by Wellington Paquin's father, was first seen on stage in the role of Flora McGrath. For this role, she won the Academy Award of Best Supporting Actress for The romantic drama The Piano at the young age of 11. The actress is second youngest recipient in Oscar history. After responding to a call for open auditions when she was nine years old, with no previous experience in acting when she was selected for the role of Flora McGrath part. Flora was the daughter of the Scottish pianist who was mute. The couple were relocated into New Zealand during the middle of the nineteenth century to get married. When she was a teenager her family left Canada and eventually to United States. Paquin was chosen to play the role of the child in Franco Zeffirelli's Jane Eyre in 1996. Also, she was an important role as a lead character in Fly Away Home, a movie from that same year. Paquin played Frankie Addams as a child in the television adaptation of Carson McCullers novel The Member of the Wedding. Paquin was also in the role of the queen of Spain, in Steven Spielbergs 1997 feature film Amistad. She was a teenager on the screen in Hurlyburly (1998) She's All That (1999) as well as A Walk on the Moon (1999) as well as the character of a groupie Polexia Aphrodisa in Almost Famous (2000).
